About

About Me

I am originally from the Los Angeles area and am pursuing a Mastor of Arts in Communication at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am scheduled to graduate in December 2016.

In February 2011 I flew to Hawaii to compete in the annual Great Aloha Run, an eight-mile course through the streets of Honolulu. While there I fell in love with the island and returned in July 2011 and again for two weeks in February 2012. I competed in the Great Aloha Run for the second year in a row and finished it 17 minutes shorter than before!

On June 2, 2013 I participated in another run much closer to home, the Costa Mesa Community Run at Fairview Regional Park, with a finish time of 33 minutes, 7 seconds in the 5K category. I went to the second morning service at church immediately afterward, only to have rigor mortis set in with a vengeance because I didn't properly let my body cool down.

Site History

I have had a web presence since since 1999. That's right; waaaay back when television was analog, dinosaurs ruled the earth along with AOL, and years began with the number one. It began as The Kickback Cafe, then became Pandapolis in 2006, and Newport Muse in 2011. This is a hub for all my professional and volunteer work in web design, illustration, animation and video production.

About The Name

I came up with the name Newport Muse several years ago as a personal brand name. It's a play on Newport News, Virginia mashed up with the Muses of Greek mythology, the daughters of Zeus who were the patrons of the arts.
